Let me preface this with the following statement: I am not a Knicks fan but I root for them — more so this season than before and especially more so the last week.
Amare Stoudemire has a great chance to prove he is the leader of the Knicks. He played some great ball last year before Carmelo got there, and he can really step it up in his return tonight.
If Amare is a true leader, here’s what he has to do…
He should sit down with Jeremy Lin before the game and say:
"Listen kid. You have been doing some amazing stuff, and you’ve energized this team. Let’s continue to build on that.
You may have heard that I used to play a pretty good game with an all-star point guard under this head coach. Use me as a tool to bring this offense to another level and don’t worry about getting me the ball.
Oh, and I’ll deal with Melo when he gets back. Just keep doing what you’re doing.”
That is leadership.
