Digital Ocean: Lessons from TechStars: Week 3

We’re now almost 25% of the way through the TechStars program, and we are operating on all cylinders…

Here’s are main takeaways from this week:

  • Don’t build anything unless you test it
  • I know we keep talking about this whole mentoring thing, but seriously… try it. An outsider’s perspective can be very helpful — especially when that outsider happens to be a very successful person who is knowledgeable about what you’re getting into
  • Werewolf will do more to bring together a TechStars class than every other activity and event combined. And it’s addicting as hell
  • When making changes and “improvements” to your site and product, it is important to make one change at a time and measure the results — otherwise you have no clue what’s working and what’s not
  • Per Micah Baldwin, it’s important to stay focused on the long term vision and not get completely caught up in the immediate deliverables
  • Naps at the office should not be frowned upon but regarded as a sign of accomplishment — you’ve been working your butt off cranking out some code and you need to power down for a quick snooze

That’s all for this week. It’s nap time…
