At the beginning of 2014, I created a list of 31 goals for the year. They were super ambitions and many of them I didn't achieve. The ultimate outcome was achieved, which is much more important that checking some goals off a list. I set out to make 2014 the best year of my life, just I had done for the prior few years before that, and just as I have done again this year. And in that sense, I definitely succeeded in 2014.
I didn't necessarily like the idea though that I had these public goals out there that I didn't achieve. That made me feel like, at least on some tiny level, I was failing. So when 2015 rolled around, I didn't create a massive goals list. My plan was just to dominate in all areas of my life. I know what I want and what I need to do to get there, so I thought I'd try not publicly publishing goals (and for that matter, I never even created them at all).
That was a mistake. We are now 2.5 months into the year, and I can clearly say that having public goals makes a huge impact on my own individual psyche. I am glad that I have learned that about myself, and now it is time to rectify that. And this year, I am making all of my goals where as last year I hid a few because they felt too personal. This year, it's all fair game (except for the revenue numbers for Firehawk because I'm fairly certain my business partner wouldn't want that number public). Other than that, it's all here.
Continuing from last year, I've broken up my goals into the 7 key areas of focus in my life. Not surprisingly, I have the most Health Goals (8) as I look at the area as the foundation for everything else I hope to achieve. Without ultimate vitality, the rest just doesn't seem that interesting or possible. I also only have one Reward Goal. Yes, it's a big one (taking a month away from work to travel somewhere ridiculous), but actually achieving and strive to achieve many of the goals on this list is a reward in itself.
There is so much here that if I achieve half of my goals, it will be a spectacular year. However, I am committed to achieving all of them. Some of these I'm going to write about in the future and will add links to this post as I do.
